Parsons  ×  Helpsy Upcycling Project

For the HELPSY project at Parsons School of Design, I made brand new skirts by repurposing discarded clothing and materials.

I deconstructed a blue vacation dress I got from Helpsy, broke it down into strips of fabric and added a white silk lining. I used techniques such as punching, threading and sewing to join the strips of fabric together, resulting in a new and unique dress. The production process was extremely challenging, as I had to utilize a limited amount of fabric, and it was difficult to complete the production, filming of the video, and development of the system map in a short period of time. Despite the difficulties, this project pushed me to think creatively and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
